IPMAN Calls for Broader Petrol Allocation from Dangote Refinery

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), led by National President Abubakar Shettima, has called on Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals to broaden its direct allocation of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to all registered independent marketers in Nigeria. Shettima argued that the current limited access creates supply bottlenecks and inflates petrol prices for consumers.

He emphasized that expanding access would eliminate the advantages of middlemen, whose logistics fees contribute to higher costs at filling stations. Additionally, Shettima congratulated the refinery on its upcoming public share sale, viewing it as a significant development for Nigeria, allowing citizens to invest in the refinery.

He encouraged IPMAN members to participate in the share sale, which he believes is vital for Nigeria's energy security. Furthermore, Shettima urged the government to implement policies to discourage petrol imports, as reliance on foreign-refined products negatively impacts Nigeria's foreign exchange reserves and domestic refining capacity.
