IPOB Condemns Igbo Leaders’ Pleas to Tinubu, Demands Immediate Release of Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) strongly criticized prominent Igbo leaders for publicly pleading with President Bola Tinubu to release their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. In a statement, IPOB demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Kanu, calling the appeals to Tinubu disgraceful and unacceptable.

The group emphasized that Kanu is a prisoner of conscience who was illegally abducted in Kenya in June 2021. IPOB highlighted the legal proceedings surrounding Kanu's case, including the Nigerian court's jurisdictional issues and the violation of international human rights treaties.

The group warned against begging Tinubu for Kanu's release, stating that it empowers dictatorship and undermines the rule of law. Instead, IPOB urged Igbo leaders and the international community to demand Kanu's immediate release and uphold justice.
