Iran Assembly to Select New Supreme Leader After Mozafari

The Iran Assembly, comprising 88 clerics, is set to meet within 24 hours to initiate the process of selecting the country's next Supreme Leader after the death of Hossein Mozafari. This announcement was made by a member of the assembly, who urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified claims regarding the leadership transition.

The assembly is expected to formally convene soon to deliberate on the succession. Meanwhile, the United States condemned a recent Iranian drone strike near Azerbaijan's border, describing it as an escalation of aggression during the ongoing Middle East conflict.

The U.S. Department of State reported that the strike targeted infrastructure in Azerbaijan's exclave, Nakhchivan, injuring civilians.

Spokesman Tommi Pigott stated that such actions by Iran are unacceptable and will be met with a resolute response from the U.S. and its allies in the region.
