Iran Denies Secret Nuclear Site Amid US Threats

On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei denied claims of a secret nuclear complex at Kolang Mountain, responding to US President Donald Trump's threats to strike the site. Baqaei asserted that Washington's focus on Kolang Kouh is a "fabricated pretext for aggression, destruction, and sabotage," emphasizing that Iran's nuclear activities have been fully declared to the United Nations' atomic watchdog.

Trump had warned on Tuesday that the US would target the site, referred to as Pickaxe Mountain in English, stating, "We’ll be hitting that area pretty soon, and very heavily." He noted that while he typically does not announce targets, "there’s not a thing they can do about it." As of now, the US has not acted on this threat. In 2025, US media reported that Iran had accelerated construction at a secret underground nuclear site at Kolang Mountain, which Iran denied.

This mountain is located near Iran's Natanz nuclear facility, previously bombed by the US during a brief conflict in June of that year.
