Iran Critiques US Diplomacy Efforts Amid Ceasefire Violations

The Iranian Foreign Ministry, represented by spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, stated that the United States is not serious about pursuing diplomatic efforts, particularly in light of recent violations of a two-week ceasefire. Baqaei pointed to US attacks on an Iranian cargo ship and the delay in implementing the ceasefire in Lebanon as evidence of this lack of seriousness.

The conflict escalated following a US strike on February 28 that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering regional turmoil. Negotiations between Tehran and Washington have not resulted in a deal to end the war, despite a fragile ceasefire that began on April 8.

US President Donald Trump ordered negotiations to travel to Pakistan, but Iran has yet to confirm its participation in the next round of talks. Key sticking points include Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium and the strategic Strait of Hormuz, with no decisions made regarding uranium transfer during the negotiation period.
