ISMPH Advocates for Data-Driven Health Reporting in Nigeria

Dr. Moji Makanjuola, Executive Director of the International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH), urged media practitioners to adopt evidence-based reporting to strengthen accountability in Nigeria's primary healthcare sector.

This statement was made during a two-day media engagement workshop for selected journalists held in Kano. Dr.

Makanjuola, represented by ISMPH Programme Manager Mr. Philip Muoneke, emphasized that effective healthcare governance relies on credible data and journalists' ability to analyze and communicate health information.

The workshop, organized by the Kano State Ministry of Health in collaboration with ISMPH and other partners, aimed to enhance journalists' understanding of various health accountability tools. Dr.

Makanjuola highlighted the importance of journalists in shaping public opinion and fostering trust between the government and citizens. Comrade Hauwa Zahradeen, Chairperson of the Kano Health Journalists Network, described the training as timely, while other representatives stressed the need for stronger media collaboration in health reporting.
