Israel Confirms Killing of IRGC Navy Commander Tangsiri

Israel has confirmed the killing of Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, in a targeted strike. The announcement was made by Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, who stated that Tangsiri was a senior Iranian naval commander involved in military operations concerning the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Katz alleged that Tangsiri was directly responsible for terrorist acts, including bombings aimed at blocking the Strait of Hormuz. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of several IRGC Navy officials, although their identities have not been disclosed.

Tangsiri, who was appointed to command the IRGC Navy in 2018 and previously served as deputy commander since 2010, was known for his strong opposition to Western influence in the Middle East. At the time of the report, Iranian authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the strike.

Tangsiri had previously warned that no vessels associated with aggressors against Iran would be allowed to pass through the strategic waterway.
