ISWAP Finance Chief Surrenders to Nigerian Troops

On July 25, 2026, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a senior finance chief of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) surrendered to troops of 3 Battalion under the 24 Task Force Brigade, part of Operation Hadin Kai, in Borno State. Captain Mohammed Goni, the acting Military Information Officer for Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the surrender, which occurred along the Ladari–Jegarawa–Tunokalia axis on the Gamboru–Wulgo Main Supply Route.

The surrender is part of a growing trend, with around 46 terrorists and their family members surrendering recently. The ISWAP operative, who managed financial activities and logistics for the group at Jubillaram, surrendered alongside two male children.

Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of ammunition, a motorcycle, and ₦40,000. The surrender signifies a setback for ISWAP and indicates a decline in the group's operational capabilities due to sustained military pressure.

The Nigerian Army continues to encourage remaining terrorists to surrender.
