Femi Kuti, an Afrobeat superstar and son of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, expressed his irritation at being linked to political figures like former President Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu. During an appearance on Arise TV to react to a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award conferred on his father, Femi highlighted the global recognition of his family's legacy in fearlessly confronting dictatorship and corruption in Nigeria and across Africa.

He emphasized the historical significance of the award, especially during the military rule era that influenced Fela's music activism. Femi reiterated the violence and struggles his father faced, stressing that Fela's music is intertwined with Nigeria's political history.
