Lere Olayinka Denies Supreme Court Nullification Claims

Lere Olayinka, serving as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, dismissed claims that the Supreme Court nullified the People's Democratic Party (PDP) convention held in Abuja from March 29 to 30, 2026. This statement arose amidst reports that a certified true copy of a recent apex court judgment indicated that the faction loyal to Nyesom Wike lost the battle for control of the party.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Abuja convention was illegal, affirming the suspension of key leaders from the Wike-backed faction, including Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Kamaldeen Ajibade. In an interview with Arise Television on Saturday, Olayinka stated that the suspension matter was not mentioned in the appeal to the Supreme Court and emphasized that the court did not nullify the March 29 convention.
