ADC Chieftain Igbawua Defends Atiku Against Kwankwaso

Chille Igbawua, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former member of the House of Representatives, condemned Rabiu Kwankwaso's suggestion that Atiku Abubakar should withdraw from the 2027 presidential race. Igbawua described Kwankwaso's remarks as an insult and absolutely irresponsible during an interview on Arise Television.

He argued that claims regarding Atiku's age and health as disqualifying factors are unfounded, asserting that Atiku has not changed his age and that age does not necessarily correlate with the ability to govern. Igbawua questioned the basis of Kwankwaso's suggestion that Atiku would need care if he stepped down, stating it was damaging and created a divide.

He affirmed that the ADC is open to discussions with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections and expressed confidence that they could defeat the incumbent, President Bola Tinubu, to bring about change in the country.
