Udenta Calls El-Rufai's Detention an Injustice

Prof. Udenta has publicly condemned the ongoing detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, labeling it as an injustice.

El-Rufai is facing nine counts of charges that involve allegations of benefiting from fraudulent activities and dishonest disposal of loan funds. His bail hearing has been postponed to June.

During an interview on Arise Television's prime time, Udenta noted that El-Rufai should not be held in perpetual detention while investigations are ongoing, suggesting that security authorities are conducting investigations without El-Rufai's custody. Additionally, former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore shared on social media that legal procedures should not be used as tools for intimidation, urging the court to uphold the rule of law and grant necessary bail to ensure a fair trial, which he believes is a fundamental human right.

Sowore criticized the current bail conditions as unjust and unacceptable.
