Yunusa Tanko Calls Attack on Peter Obi Assassination Attempt

Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, characterized the recent attack on Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and ADC chieftains as a clear assassination attempt. This statement was made during an interview on Wednesday, where he recounted the incident that took place in Benin City, Edo State.

The attack involved gunmen targeting Obi and ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo. Tanko expressed surprise at the attack, especially given the heavy security presence in the area.

He also referenced previous threats made by the incumbent Edo State governor, Okpehbolo, warning Obi against entering the state without proper clearance. The attack has raised significant concerns regarding the safety of political figures in Nigeria, particularly in the lead-up to elections.
