Peter Obi Escapes Assassination Attempt in Edo State

On Tuesday, during an event in Benin City, Edo State, former presidential candidate Peter Obi escaped an assassination attempt as armed thugs attacked a rally organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The incident occurred while Obi was present to support Olumide Akpata, the ADC leader, prompting him to flee for safety amidst gunfire.

Yunusa Tanko, the national coordinator of the Obidient Movement, raised the alarm shortly after the attack, describing it as a direct threat to Obi's life. The attack took place near the ADC secretariat and the residence of former APC national chairman John Odigi Oyegun, damaging several vehicles as gunmen opened fire.

The chaotic situation led to panic among party members and residents in the area. As of the time of reporting, no official statement had been released by the Edo State police command, and it remains unclear if any arrests were made or if there were any casualties.
