Veteran Actor Ogogo Passes Away at 66, Leaves Message

Taiwo Hassan, a veteran Yoruba actor popularly known as Ogogo, died at the age of 66 on Sunday. His daughter, Kira Taiwo, shared a heartfelt message from her father on her Instagram Story, where he encouraged her to remain strong and not to cry, stating that her smile gave him strength.

The message, dated July 26, revealed that Ogogo was battling stage-four cancer, which the family disclosed weeks before his passing. He reassured Kira, saying, “Nothing is going to happen to me, insha Allah.” Ogogo passed away around 3 pm on Sunday, and his burial was announced by fellow actor Jide Kosoko.

He was to be buried in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, with a lying-in-state ceremony scheduled for 11 am at the Pavilion, followed by burial prayers at 10 am at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, in accordance with Islamic rites.
