Bode George, a PDP chieftain, criticized party members demanding the zoning of the presidential ticket to the North, calling it "nothing but self-centeredness." Speaking on Channels Television's Lunchtime Politics program, George praised the decision of the PDP governor National Executive Council to zone the ticket to the southern region while retaining the chairmanship in the North. He labeled the demand for zoning to the North as "existential imbecility," emphasizing the importance of fairness and equity within the party.

George highlighted that those who had defected in the past were now returning, recognizing the need for fairness. He stressed that the principle of fairness must prevail in the party's decision-making process.
