Wahid Oshodi Joins World Table Tennis Board as Director

Wahid Oshodi has been appointed to the World Table Tennis (WTT) Board, marking a historic milestone as he becomes the first African to serve as a full director since WTT's establishment in 2019. This appointment was announced during the ITTF Executive Board meeting on March 1, 2026, at the WTT headquarters in Singapore.

Oshodi, who previously served as the president of the African Table Tennis Federation, will represent the ITTF on the WTT Board. Petra Sörling, the ITTF president, confirmed Oshodi's appointment and emphasized the importance of ensuring a commercially sustainable platform for the sport.

The board also includes other notable members such as Lei Zhenjian and Steve Dainton. Oshodi's inclusion reinforces African representation in global sports governance and highlights his commitment to strong governance and organizational growth.

His leadership is expected to focus on establishing a solid foundation for WTT's long-term development and enhancing grassroots programs for talent identification.
