Celebrating Women Breaking Barriers in Nigeria's Maritime Sector

In celebration of International Women's Day 2026, ten remarkable Nigerian women are acknowledged for breaking barriers in the male-dominated maritime sector. Mogo, with 34 years of experience, revolutionizes the maritime environment as the Director of Marine Environment Management at NIMASA and represents West and Central Africa at the IMO.

Usoro, Nigeria's first female NIMASA Director-General, has set regulatory standards and expanded the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) across six geopolitical zones. Vicki Haastrup co-founded ENL Consortium, operating the largest single berth seaport in West Africa, and has received the Seatrade Award for Best Port Container Terminal.

Chizoba Anyika has advanced local content mandates and collaborates with various agencies to strengthen indigenous maritime capacity. Funmi Folorunsho holds a leadership position in Africa's maritime policy.
