NIMASA Celebrates Women, Promotes Maritime Inclusivity

On Friday, during an event in Lagos commemorating International Women's Day 2026, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), reaffirmed the agency's commitment to encouraging greater participation of women in the nation's maritime sector.

Mobereola emphasized that the maritime industry presents significant opportunities and is a key driver of Nigeria's economic development, stating that sustainable growth in the sector requires meaningful contributions from both genders. Dr.

Odunayo Ani, Director of Financial Services at NIMASA, noted the increasing influence of women in the maritime industry and the importance of inclusive leadership. She represented the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria, advocating for stronger partnerships among stakeholders to expand opportunities for women.

Dr. Titilayo Enitan Fowokan highlighted ongoing fiscal reforms that create new opportunities for women entrepreneurs in shipping and logistics, urging women in the maritime sector to strategically position themselves to leverage emerging opportunities.
