NIMASA Promotes Digital Transformation for Women in Maritime

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), represented by Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Director General, called for digital transformation as a catalyst for increasing women's participation in the maritime industry at a symposium in Lagos.

This event was organized in collaboration with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana. Mobereola highlighted that digitalization could significantly correct the imbalance in women's representation within the maritime sector, creating new opportunities and removing traditional barriers.

He noted that the maritime industry is undergoing profound changes driven by digital technologies, which reshape operations and regulatory functions. Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo Bawah emphasized the importance of ensuring women play a greater role in shaping the future of the Gulf of Guinea maritime domain, particularly in the context of digital transformation.

The symposium brought together senior government officials, maritime professionals, and women's groups from across West Africa to discuss strategies for enhancing women's participation in the industry.
