Kaduna Council Chair Advocates for Women's Rights

On Saturday, Hon. Larai Ishaku, the current female council chairman of Jaba Local Government Area in Kaduna State, made a strong appeal for equal rights for women while commemorating the 2026 International Women's Day.

She highlighted the year's theme, "Right, Justice, Action," and called for a united effort to dismantle structural barriers that prevent women and girls from enjoying equal opportunities and justice. Ishaku pointed out that discriminatory laws and weak legal protections continue to undermine women's dignity and safety, urging government institutions and community leaders to demand justice for women and girls globally.

She stressed the importance of a just legal system that supports survivors of abuse and holds perpetrators accountable. Additionally, she called for greater investment in programs that empower women economically, socially, and politically, emphasizing that gender equality requires sustained action from all stakeholders.

Ishaku reaffirmed her administration's commitment to policies that support the welfare and empowerment of women and girls in the Jaba Local Government Area.
