Asiri Magazine Launches "Her Story of Nigeria" Project

On March 9, 2023, Asiri Magazine, in partnership with the British Deputy High Commission, unveiled the "Her Story of Nigeria" project during a pop-up show in Ikoyi, Lagos, coinciding with International Women's Day. The initiative aims to create a live digital archive that documents and celebrates the contributions of Nigerian women from 1910 to 1950, reclaiming their place in the broader Commonwealth narrative.

Simon Field, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Deputy High Commission, emphasized the project's potential to deepen cooperation across various priorities, including security and economic growth. Project Director Dr. Oludamola Adebowal highlighted the importance of structured research and storytelling in addressing the historical neglect of women's contributions.

The initiative will also feature a 15-day digital campaign across Asiri Magazine's platforms, showcasing educational content and oral histories. The launch included discussions on women's safety, with Dr. Princess Olufemi Kayod addressing the increasing threats women face in supposedly safe spaces.
