Four Women Honored with LAPO Awards in Edo State

On Thursday, during the 14th LAPO Outstanding Women Leadership Award ceremony held in Benin, Edo State, four women were honored with a total cash award of N2 million for their distinguished contributions in various fields. Amimashaun Aderayo from Oyo State won in the business category, while Adebukola Taiwo from Osun State received the farm award.

Nkechi Ajunwa from Delta State emerged as the winner in the professional category. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr.

Nosakhar Aladeselu, the founder and president of the African Women Empower Guild. Dr.

Oyefemi Obaze, chairperson of the board of directors of LAPO, highlighted the significance of the awards in celebrating women's resilience and their role in societal transformation. The event aligned with the theme of the 2026 International Women’s Day, emphasizing the need for women to be recognized and supported as drivers of change.

Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu also spoke on the importance of women's empowerment in uplifting families and communities.
