Ogun State to Empower 500 Women with N35 Million Grant

The Ogun State government, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, announced plans to empower over 500 women with a cash grant totaling N35 million as part of the activities marking the 2026 International Women's Day (IWD). This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeley, during an event held at the Royal Pavilion in Ijebu Ode.

The celebration is significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of Ogun State's creation. During the event, 50 women were awarded N200,000 each, while the remaining 500 women received N50,000 each.

The event attracted approximately 5,000 women and included declarations of support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid. Adeley emphasized the importance of women's contributions to the state's development over the past five decades and called for increased political participation among women.

Other speakers, including Senator Abiodun Olujimi, highlighted the need for structural reforms to enhance women's representation in governance.
