Iyabo Obasanjo Declares Candidacy for Ogun Governorship

Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has formally announced her candidacy for the Ogun State governorship, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC). She made her declaration at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, expressing her commitment to enhancing women's political participation in Nigeria.

Iyabo dismissed suggestions that her father's influence played a role in her decision to join the APC, emphasizing that it was a personal choice. She expressed confidence in her ability to win the nomination and govern Ogun State, stating that she would focus on education, agriculture, transport, and industrial development if elected.

Iyabo aims to be Nigeria's first female governor and is determined to gain support across Ogun State's three senatorial zones. She reiterated her belief that the APC will become even greater under her leadership.
