JAMB Sets New Admission Deadlines for Nigerian Universities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced new admission deadlines for universities in Nigeria during its annual policy meeting held in Abuja on Monday. JAMB Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede stated that public universities must complete their admission processes by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30, 2026.

Polytechnics and colleges of education are expected to conclude their admissions by December 31, 2026. JAMB introduced these timelines to ensure a uniform admission process across tertiary institutions.

Institutions that fail to meet the approved deadlines will face penalties, including losing access to the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Additionally, candidates will have four weeks to accept or reject admission offers, and failure to do so within the stipulated period will result in the removal of the offer upon the institution's request.

Candidates who reject offers may face sanctions that could affect their future admission considerations.
