JAMB to Set 2026 UTME Cutoff Marks in Upcoming Meeting

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced it will hold a policy meeting on Monday to determine the cutoff marks for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education, will bring together stakeholders from across the education sector to establish guidelines for the 2026 admissions exercise in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

A statement issued by JAMB's public advisor, Fabian Benjamin, indicated that the session will review and adopt admission benchmarks, including the determination of minimum tolerable scores for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. The meeting will also host delegates from Sierra Leone, including Deputy Minister of Education Mr.

Sarjoh Aziz Kamara and two vice chancellors, Prof. Edwin Momoh from Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology and Prof.

Bashiru Koroma from Njala University. The statement explained that Nigeria's centralized admission system is being considered as a model for Sierra Leone to streamline its own tertiary admission process.
