14-Year-Old Arrested for Stowaway Attempt at Lagos Airport

A 14-year-old was arrested at Lagos Airport for attempting to stowaway, which was described as a serious breach of aviation security. The incident occurred when the teenager was discovered on the airport tarmac, allegedly trying to gain access beneath an aircraft.

According to Mohan Adeola, the police public relations officer for the airport police command, preliminary investigations revealed that the minor unlawfully entered a restricted area without authorization, contrary to regulations set by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). The suspect was immediately taken into custody, and the case is being handled according to child protection procedures, with parents notified promptly.

Ogunbod Olufunk, the airport command representative, reaffirmed the commitment to safeguarding critical aviation infrastructure and stressed that airports are highly sensitive zones requiring strict compliance with security protocols. The police urged parents and guardians to be vigilant regarding the movements of minors around restricted environments, reiterating their resolve to maintain safety and security across Nigeria's aviation sector.
