NMA President Calls for Better Welfare for Nigerian Doctors

Prof. Afekhide Omoti, the newly elected president of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), emphasized the urgent need for better welfare and working conditions for doctors in Nigeria.

He made these remarks on Thursday while receiving members of the NMA Edo State branch at Benin Airport. Omoti highlighted the critical situation in the medical field, stating that many young doctors are leaving Nigeria to pursue opportunities abroad, particularly after passing foreign exams.

He asserted that improving the welfare and working conditions of medical practitioners is essential to restore the dignity of the profession and retain healthcare workers in Nigeria. Omoti also mentioned that the NMA will advocate for the rights and privileges of healthcare workers at all levels, aiming to enhance the healthcare system in Nigeria for the benefit of its citizens.

Dr. Eustac Oseghale, the Edo State chairman of the NMA, supported Omoti's call for urgent action to address these issues.
