Anambra NMA Issues Ultimatum Over Doctor's Abduction

The Anambra branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the release of Dr. Edwin Emegakor, who was abducted on May 7 by unidentified men in uniform while attending to patients at Crown Multi-Specialist Hospital in Nkpor.

Following an emergency general meeting, the NMA, represented by Dr. Princeton Okam and Dr.

Obia Ifeanyi, condemned the recent kidnapping and the prevailing insecurity in the state. They called on the Anambra government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure Dr.

Emegakor's release. The NMA warned that if their colleague is not freed within the stipulated time, they will down tools, and an emergency meeting will be convened to review the situation.

The association acknowledged the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Dr. Afam Ben Obidik in enhancing healthcare service delivery but urged for effective measures to tackle insecurity in the state.
