Chief Joseph Ebere Ezeokafor, who leads Jezco Group of Companies and is a prominent businessman, has regained freedom following his kidnapping in Anambra State. The reverend sister taken alongside him has likewise been released.
On Saturday, the Anambra State Police Command verified their safe return, concluding an ordeal spanning multiple days. Ezeokafor, aged in his seventies and father of social media figure Jowi Zaza, was seized early Tuesday while traveling toward a prayer ground in Awka.
Armed gunmen took him and the reverend sister at Ifite-Awka within Awka South Local Government Area. Both individuals were freed during Saturday's early morning hours, according to available reports, though how they gained their freedom stays unclear.

News organizations reported that during captivity, the kidnappers made contact with Ezeokafor's family, but official sources have not revealed particular details regarding ransom conversations or whether payments occurred.

Through Saturday's announcement confirming the victims' release, no suspects had been taken into custody.
