Jigawa State Airlifts 480 Pilgrims for 2026 Hajj

Jigawa State has successfully airlifted 480 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj, marking the commencement of the state's Hajj operations. The airlift occurred at Nuhu Muhammadu Sunusi International Airport in Dutsin-Ma, where pilgrims boarded Umza Airlines aircraft amidst prayers and farewell messages.

Governor Umar Namadi, who serves as the Amirul Hajj, bid farewell to the pilgrims, encouraging them to act as good ambassadors for Jigawa and Nigeria during their spiritual journey. The pilgrims, drawn from 25 local government areas, were assured of adequate arrangements for their comfort, safety, and welfare in Saudi Arabia.

Umar Labbo, the Director General of the Jigawa State Pilgrim Welfare Board, highlighted the support from various stakeholders, including security agencies, to ensure a smooth process. The first-time pilgrims expressed their excitement and gratitude for the arrangements made, with some having waited 12 years for this opportunity.
