Jigawa State Supports Review of Revenue Allocation Formula

Jigawa State has expressed its backing for a nationwide review of the revenue allocation formula, which is being led by the Federal Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Governor Namadi described the review as a necessary exercise to align revenue allocation with current socio-economic realities.

He noted that previous attempts to review the formula were unsuccessful but expressed confidence in the current leadership of the commission to achieve a successful outcome. Effiong Akpan, representing the commission, explained that the nationwide data verification exercise aims to ensure that the data used for revenue allocation reflects present-day realities across the federation, taking into account changes in population, infrastructure development, and socio-economic factors.

Governor Namadi pledged the full support and cooperation of the Jigawa State Government for this process, which is intended to guarantee fair distribution of national resources and is to be conducted transparently and professionally, adhering to global best practices.
