Jigawa Woman's Abduction and Escape to Abuja

Walida Abdullahi, a 22-year-old from Hadejia Local Government Area in Jigawa State, shared her harrowing experience of abduction and abuse in an exclusive interview with Daily Trust. After leaving home in 2023 as a senior secondary school student, she encountered a woman named Mariam who lured her into a house with other young women.

Walida alleged that she was subjected to sexual exploitation and physical abuse by unknown individuals. After falling ill, she moved in with Mariam and her husband, Abdullahi Isiyaku, where she faced further abuse and was forced to adopt a new identity, Chinasa.

Her attempts to escape were thwarted, leading to her being beaten and transported to Abuja, where she was confined with other women. Eventually, she escaped and received help from a stranger and a man named Ifeanyi, with whom she later entered a consensual relationship, resulting in the birth of a baby girl.

Tensions arose when her family discovered her relationship with Ifeanyi, leading to security involvement. Walida insisted she acted of her own free will and preferred to stay with Ifeanyi rather than return to her family.
