Walida Abdullahi's Harrowing Escape from Captivity

Walida Abdullahi, a 22-year-old from Hadejia, Jigawa State, shared her traumatic story during an exclusive interview at the DSS headquarters in Abuja. On a day in 2023, while fetching water, she was approached by a woman named Mariam, who took her to a house where they met four other individuals.

Walida fell ill, and a doctor diagnosed her with malaria, but Mariam relocated them to another house where they were isolated. After enduring mistreatment, including being beaten by Mariam's husband, Abdullahi Isiyaku, Walida managed to escape.

She wandered until she met a tricycle rider who helped her reach a market. There, she encountered Ifeanyi, a DSS operative, who assisted her further.

After explaining her situation, Ifeanyi took her to his sister's house in Karmajiji, where she stayed until she could contact her father. Walida's story highlights the severe human rights violations she faced and her struggle for freedom.
