Jingir Defends Muslim-Muslim Ticket Support Amid Controversy

Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahya Jingir, the National Chairman of Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jama’ah (JIBWIS), has defended his support for Muslim-Muslim political tickets, stating that his position predates President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Jingir expressed confusion over why Nigerian Christians can advocate for their candidates while he is criticized for doing the same for Muslims.

He clarified that his endorsement of a Muslim-Muslim ticket is not limited to Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima but extends to any candidate who shares his beliefs. Jingir emphasized that his advocacy is rooted in a long-standing conviction and is a response to the historical suffering and political marginalization of Muslims in Plateau State.

He cited past political events, including the assassination of Sir Ahmadu Bello and the illness of Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, as influential in shaping his views. Jingir reiterated that he encourages Muslims to exercise their voting rights and support candidates they believe in, maintaining that his statements have been misinterpreted.
