Jo Bonfrere Petitions Senate Over Unreleased Land Gift After 1996 Olympic Gold Feat

Former Super Eagles coach Jo Bonfrere, aged 79, has petitioned the Senate, accusing the Lagos State Government of failing to release a parcel of land promised to him for his role in leading Nigeria to Olympic glory in 1996. Bonfrere's legal counsel submitted the petition, urging the Senate to intervene and compel Lagos to fulfill its pledge.

The land was reportedly promised by former military governor Col. Olagunsoy Oyinlola.

Bonfrere's team members have received their allocated plots, but his remains unreleased, leading to accusations of neglect and discrimination. The petition seeks justice and recognition for Bonfrere's contribution to Nigerian football.
