Kogi Police and Military Clear Criminal Hideouts in Forests

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 0700hrs, the Kogi Police Command, in collaboration with military forces and local vigilance groups, conducted operations to destroy and clear several suspected criminal hideouts in the forests linking Kabba/Bunu, Obajana, and Lokoja. This operation was initiated under the directives of Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Kankarofi, aimed at intensifying bush clearance operations against criminal elements.

The joint team navigated through the Daji 2 Forest Zone, identifying and clearing an abandoned settlement previously used for criminal activities. They also advanced to Amos Camp, overcoming challenging terrain to clear the area.

Signs of recent criminal movement were noted, indicating a retreat ahead of the security forces. The operation has bolstered the confidence of local farmers and residents, who are returning to their activities, supported by the ongoing security presence and operations across the state.
