Katsina Security Forces Eliminate 18 Bandits in Operation

On September 21, a joint security team conducted an intelligence-led operation in Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, resulting in the neutralization of 18 suspected bandits. The operation took place at approximately 1:00 a.m. in Gidan Iyado, Kakumi Ward, where hunters, members of the Community Watch Corps (CWC), and local vigilantes ambushed the armed group.

This action was prompted by credible intelligence regarding the bandits' plans for a mass abduction for ransom. The gang was identified as being led by Alhaji Musa Duki, a former school headmaster turned notorious bandit kingpin operating from Mununu Forest in Faskari LGA.

During the operation, security operatives recovered one G3 rifle, two AK-47 rifles, 14 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, three motorcycles, two cows, and 94 sheep believed to have been rustled. No casualties were reported among the security operatives.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has directed ongoing covert operations to track the fleeing kingpin and dismantle his criminal network.
