Security Forces Neutralize Bandits in Sokoto Operation

In the early hours of Friday, a joint team of police and military personnel engaged in a fierce gun battle with suspected bandits in Maikujura village, Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The operation was initiated following credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer in Rabah regarding armed bandits moving towards Maikujura with rustled livestock.

The police mobilized tactical teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Violence Crime Response Unit, in collaboration with personnel from the military Forward Operating Base. The security operatives strategically blocked the bandits' route, leading to a confrontation that resulted in a gun duel.

The operation resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 52 rounds of live ammunition, about 15 motorcycles, and 62 rustled animals. No casualties were reported among security personnel or villagers.

The Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State, CP Hassan Hayatu Shaffa, praised the operatives for their professionalism and urged residents to provide timely information to combat banditry.
