“Jonathan Offers Obi Ministerial Slot To Drop 2027 Presidential Ambition”: Kachikwu Alleges

Former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu has alleged that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan offered Peter Obi a ministerial position as Coordinating Minister of the Economy in exchange for dropping his 2027 presidential ambition. Kachikwu claimed that Jonathan's move was to weaken the South's chances in the 2027 presidential race, as per Northern political interests.

He also accused the Northern elite of manipulating the region's poor by using religion, tribe, and poverty as tools. Kachikwu further stated that Obi had assured Northerners of their votes for an Igbo candidate.

Additionally, there have been reports of Jonathan considering contesting the 2027 presidential election, with the PDP allegedly willing to grant him an automatic ticket. Meanwhile, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has urged Obi to return to the PDP ahead of the election, citing his obedience and teamwork as reasons for his return.
