Jos Disco Addresses Power Supply Drop in Northern States

The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) has explained the recent drop in electricity supply across Plateau, Bauchi, Benue, and Gombe states, attributing it to a reduction in allocations from the national grid. Saratu Dauda, the company's spokesperson, disclosed this information during a press briefing on Wednesday.

She noted that the capacity to supply electricity is dependent on the volume received from the national grid, which has been reduced. Dauda emphasized that the situation is beyond the company's control and appealed to customers for understanding during this period.

She assured that the company is engaging relevant stakeholders to improve the situation and urged residents in the affected states to remain patient as efforts to stabilize supply are ongoing. This development comes amid recurring instability in Nigeria's power sector, with frequent fluctuations in supply attributed to challenges faced by the power sector.

Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu has also apologized to Nigerians for the recent decline in electricity supply.
