IBEDC Addresses Erratic Power Supply Issues in Oyo

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) issued a statement explaining the ongoing erratic power supply across its franchise areas, attributing the issues to supply shortages and instability in energy allocation from the national grid. The management acknowledged the significant inconvenience this has caused to customers and expressed understanding of their frustrations.

The company noted that the current supply constraints are linked to challenges affecting power generation and supply nationwide, which have resulted in increased load shedding. Despite a rise in electricity demand within the IBEDC franchise, particularly following the addition of a new feeder line, energy allocation from the national grid has remained unstable.

This situation has led to protests in some communities. IBEDC appealed for constructive engagement rather than confrontation and assured customers of ongoing dialogue with relevant stakeholders to address the energy allocation imbalances and restore stable power supply.
