Josplay has entered into a content partnership with Sony Music to broaden access to African music for a global audience. This agreement will enable Josplay users to access a significant portion of Sony Music's catalog, which includes records distributed by Orchard and the complete catalogs of Lusafrica and Africa Nostra. The partnership features 4,000 titles spanning three decades of Lusophone African music, highlighting notable artists such as Cape Verdean singer Césaria Évora, known for popularizing morna music. The collaboration will leverage Orchard's distribution infrastructure across key African markets, including South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya. Georg Ogala, Josplay's Chief Operating Officer, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the platform's mission to reflect the diversity of African music. It aims to enhance user experience by allowing curated listening sessions that reflect cultural consumption habits, thereby preserving the diversity of African music traditions.
