President Tinubu Ends Emergency Rule in Rivers State, Restores Governance

Residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, celebrated as President Bola Tinubu ended the emergency rule imposed on the state, reinstating Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House Assembly. The emergency rule, in place since March 18, 2025, was lifted, signaling a return to democratic governance.

The decision was met with jubilation and praise from residents, political figures like FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and the Rivers State Elders Council. Former Governorship candidate Tonye Cole welcomed the restoration of democratic rule, expressing optimism for the state's future under the lifted emergency rule.
