Court Stops PDP Convention Pending Lamido's Chairmanship Form

The Federal High Court in Abuja has once again halted the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its proposed national convention until former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido obtains the nomination form for the party's national chairmanship position. Justice Peter Odo Lifu issued the order, citing the party's failure to fully comply with its constitution and international guidelines.

The court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to supervise and monitor the convention once Lamido is permitted to participate. Lamido's counsel, Jeph Njikony, had filed a suit seeking to stop the convention, alleging that the party unlawfully prevented Lamido from securing the chairmanship nomination form.
