Atiku Backs Mandatory Electronic Result Transmission in Nigeria

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared his support for the mandatory electronic transmission of election results in Nigeria. Atiku emphasized the urgency for the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Act to make electronic result transmission from polling units compulsory.

He made this statement while meeting with a delegation of young Nigerians led by Ukpola Chinedu, the convener of the Nigeria Electoral Reform Coalition (NERCO). Atiku highlighted the importance of credible and transparent elections for Nigeria's democracy and expressed concerns about the current discretion given to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in result transmission.

The delegation also proposed transparent recruitment processes for INEC officials. Atiku pledged his support to ensure every vote counts in future elections through the full deployment of technology in the electoral process.
