Bandits Kill Seven Worshippers in Kaduna Easter Attack

On Easter Sunday, bandits attacked churches in the Ariko community of Kaduna, killing at least seven worshippers. The attack occurred in the early hours, with reports indicating that a large number of assailants stormed the area, opening fire during worship.

A local councillor confirmed the incident via phone interview, stating that the exact number of casualties was still being ascertained, with some sources claiming eight fatalities. Additionally, several residents were abducted during the attack.

Poor telecommunications coverage in the area contributed to delays in security responses, raising concerns about the vulnerability of rural communities in Kaduna. This incident follows a similar attack in February in the Kurmin Wali community of Kachia Local Government Area, which had triggered renewed calls for improved security presence across southern Kaduna.
