El-Rufai Faces Corruption Trial in Kaduna Court

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, appeared in the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Monday as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) continued its corruption trial against him. The case involves allegations of financial misconduct, specifically the approval of the release of public funds for projects that were either not executed or handled outside due process.

El-Rufai has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining his innocence and pleading not guilty to the charges. The trial has attracted national attention due to El-Rufai's significant political profile in Nigeria.

He was earlier granted bail set at 200 million Naira, with strict conditions including the provision of two sureties, one of whom must be a retired civil servant not below grade level 15. El-Rufai's legal team is seeking a review of the bail conditions following previous legal arguments regarding the terms attached to his release.

Security personnel were present around the court complex to ensure order during the proceedings.
