Federal High Court Grants Yahaya Bello Permission to Travel Abroad for Religious Observance

The Federal High Court in Abuja granted former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello permission to travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia to perform lesser Hajj during the last 10 days of Ramadan. The court's decision came after Bello's lawyer, Joseph Daudu SAN, filed a motion seeking temporary release of Bello's international passport to facilitate his travel.

The application, dated January 19 and filed on January 20, requested the release from February 18 to March 19. Bello's lawyer assured the court that Bello would observe religious activities during the Ramadan period.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) did not oppose the motion. Bello clarified that he planned to spend only 10 days in Mecca, limiting his trip despite the full 30 days of Ramadan.

The court adjourned the matter until January 30 for the continuation of the trial.
